Shwapno starts selling beef by gram
Shwapno, one of the big retail chain shops in the country started selling 250 grams of less beef on Friday, considering low-income people who cannot afford to buy one kilogram of beef as it has become dearer, said a press release.
"Shwapno always thinks of the customers. So we have taken this decision. Any customer can now buy 250 grams or less (200, 100 and 50 grams) of beef at Shwapno outlets. No one, who wants to buy beef, has to leave our outlet without buying it," said Sabbir Hasan Nasir, managing director of Shwapno.
In neighbouring India, fish and meat have been sold as pieces since long ago. A similar practice is popular in several parts of North Bengal. But it is still not known in Dhaka. Many people shy away from buying small amounts, especially people with low incomes.
