Shimanto Bank plants trees at schools in Satkhira, Cox’s Bazar
Shimanto Bank has organised a tree plantation programme at schools in Shyamnagar Upazila, Satkhira, and Teknaf Upazila, Cox's Bazar, to raise awareness about combating the impacts of climate change.
Fruit, timber, and medicinal saplings were planted on the school premises, with students encouraged to participate in tree planting as a practical step to protect the environment. A total of seven schools in Shyamnagar and two schools in Teknaf took part in the initiative.
The programme was coordinated by Mohammad Hosen, Branch Manager of Shimanto Bank's Teknaf branch, and Md Anwarul Islam, Branch Manager of the Shyamnagar sub-branch. Teachers and students participated in the plantation drives with enthusiasm, underscoring the importance of environmental stewardship at the community level.
Shimanto Bank stated that the initiative aimed to inspire students to adopt sustainable practices and understand the role of trees in mitigating the negative effects of climate change.
