Russian House marks Unity Day with musical night
The Russian House in Dhaka hosted a ceremonial musical evening on Wednesday to mark National Unity Day of the Russian Federation, celebrating the spirit of friendship and cultural exchange between Russia and Bangladesh.
The concert showcased the rich legacy of Russian classical music, featuring compositions by Mikhail Glinka, Sergei Rachmaninoff, Alexander Dargomyzhsky, Modest Mussorgsky, Dmitri Shostakovich, Claude Debussy, Andrei Petrov, Sergei Pozhlakov, and Arno Babajanyan.
Renowned Russian performers Sergey Gladyshev (baritone) and Evgenia Ermakova (piano) captivated the audience with expressive and emotive interpretations of these timeless works, filling the venue with warmth and inspiration.
In his welcome remarks, Mr Sattar Mia, President of National Group and the Russian Society for Friendship with Bangladesh, highlighted the enduring friendship between the two nations, and the unifying role of cultural collaboration.
National Unity Day, observed annually in Russia, symbolises national harmony, mutual respect, and patriotism. The concert at the Russian House served as a testament to how art can transcend boundaries and bring people together through a shared appreciation of culture and creativity.
The Russian House extended its gratitude to National Group and Mr Sattar Mia for their continued co-operation and support in organising the event.
