Public sector sets example with people-first mental health initiative

In a remarkable and pioneering initiative for Bangladesh's public sector, the Public-Private Partnership Authority (PPPA), Bangladesh Investment Development Authority (BIDA), Bangladesh Economic Zones Authority (BEZA) and Moheshkhali Integrated Development Authority (MIDA)—all under the leadership of Mr Ashik Chowdhury—jointly observed World Mental Health Day in a subtle yet meaningful manner.
This observance marks a rare instance of public institutions recognising the importance of employee mental well-being, reflecting a leadership philosophy that places people at the centre of performance and progress.
'No organisation can create lasting impact unless its people are mentally strong and motivated', said Mr Ashik Chowdhury, highlighting his belief that a healthy and positive workplace environment is essential for sustained productivity and innovation.
In a national context where mental health is often overlooked in workplace culture, this initiative stands out as a progressive step—one that bridges empathy with efficiency. By extending the observance across four major national institutions, Mr Chowdhury has set a new precedent for compassionate governance, demonstrating that sustainable impact begins with employee well-being.
