NSU hosts vibrant "Pitha Utshob 1431 " to celebrate Bengali Culture
North South University (NSU) came alive with colours, flavours, and cultural festivities as the North South University Social Services Club (NSUSSC) hosted the "Pitha Utshob 1431", a celebration of traditional Bengali delicacies and heritage.
The event at the NSU field brought together students, faculty, and staff in a vibrant tribute to Bangladesh's rich culinary and cultural traditions.
The festival featured various pitha, traditional Bengali cakes, and dumplings made from rice flour, jaggery, and various fillings, which have been a staple of Bengali households for generations, especially during winter. Faculty members, students, and all the university clubs, including NSUSSC, set up stalls, offering a wide variety of these beloved Bengali pithas
More than just a food festival, "Pitha Utshob 1431" serves as a platform to foster unity, pride, and a sense of community among the students of NSU. Members of NSUSSC dedicated countless hours to decorating the campus, setting up stalls, painting vibrant alpacas around NSU premises, and ensuring a festive atmosphere. From organising the event to overseeing it till the end, NSUSSC members showed excellent commitment and dedication, ensuring that every aspect of the "Pitha Utshob 1431" ran smoothly.
Speaking at the event, NSU Vice-Chancellor Professor Abdul Hannan Chowdhury praised the initiative, stating, "This event exemplifies the spirit of North South University, where we come together to preserve our cultural values while fostering a sense of belonging and camaraderie."
Mr. Iqbalur Rahman Rokon, Director of the Office of Student Affairs, echoed this sentiment, emphasizing, "Our annual event, Pitha Utshob 1431, hosted by NSUSSC, is not just a celebration of food but a vibrant display of our rich cultural heritage. It's a time to come together, share traditions, and create memories that connect us all as a community."
