North Bengal Model United Nations Season V concludes with awards
The North Bengal Model United Nations (NBMUN) Season V, organised by the Rajshahi University Model United Nations Association (Rumuna), concluded with a closing and award ceremony for students from educational institutions across North Bengal.
Held under the theme "Strengthening Global Unity Through Safeguarding Cultural Heritage, Promoting Intercultural Dialogue, and Advancing Sustainable Peace for Future Generations", the conference featured discussions, debates and committee sessions on contemporary national and international issues, according to the press release.
The conference featured five committees: the Social, Humanitarian and Cultural Committee (Sochum), the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO), the United Nations Alliance of Civilisations (Unaoc), the Ministry of Cultural Affairs, and the International Press.

Throughout the conference, participants discussed cultural heritage preservation, intercultural dialogue, human rights, cultural diversity, peacebuilding and sustainable peace for future generations.
Through the different committee sessions, delegates presented their positions, exchanged arguments and proposed solutions to contemporary national and international issues.
Rumuna President Mukit Alam served as secretary-general of the conference, while Rumuna General Secretary Pronob Kumar Saha served as deputy secretary-general.
Under their leadership, the conference conducted various activities.
Department of Archaeology, Rajshahi Division Regional Director Mohammad AKM Saifur Rahman attended the closing ceremony as the chief guest, while Professor Dr Parvez Azharul Haque attended as the special guest.
Closing Plenary President Shuvradeb Chakma and Rumuna alumni Irfan Sarowar Jibon and Chayes Talukdar were also present.
During the closing and award ceremony, participants were recognised for their contributions and performances across the different committees.
Organisers presented awards and certificates of recognition to selected participants.
The organisers said the conference aimed to give young participants opportunities to develop skills in diplomacy, policy-making, research, communication, public speaking, and leadership.
It also sought to foster a greater understanding of diverse cultures and perspectives among participants.
Through discussions centred on cultural heritage, intercultural dialogue and sustainable peace, NBMUN Season V concluded with a focus on engaging young people in dialogue, diplomacy and collaborative problem-solving.
