National University, Ovibash Technical Training Institute sign MoU on student skills development
National University and Ovibash Technical Training Institute (OTTI) signed a memorandum of understanding to enhance students' professional and technical skills, align curricula with industry requirements, and expand employment opportunities.
National University Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr ASM Amanullah and Ovibash Technical Training Institute Managing Director Maleka Parvin Moly signed the agreement on behalf of their respective institutions.
National University Registrar Molla Mahfuz Al-Hosen; Director of Physical Education and Cultural Affairs Mohammad Shafiul Karim; Director of Internal Audit Md Jasim Uddin; Director of the International Desk Raj Bin Kashem; Communications Expert Gautam Barua; Coordinator of the Multi-Language Learning Institute Md Saiful Islam Shaheen; and Ovibash Technical Training Institute Director Tamanna Rahman were among the officials invited and present at the signing ceremony.
Speaking at the signing ceremony, Professor Amanullah stressed the need to equip students with the skills employers require and to align training with industry needs.
"We must develop our students into more skilled professionals. If they are given opportunities to acquire skills in line with industry requirements, they will be able to demonstrate their capabilities in both domestic and international labour markets," he said.
The vice-chancellor said National University would further strengthen industry-academia collaboration to improve students' skills, broaden their employment prospects, and create new opportunities.
"This partnership will create new opportunities for students to secure employment, acquire modern and market-oriented skills, and develop the capacity to enter the international labour market," he added.
Under the agreement, National University students will receive opportunities to participate in market-oriented professional and technical training programmes. The two institutions will also work jointly to develop and update academic curricula to meet the industry's current and future requirements.
Training will be offered in areas including the Japanese language, caregiving, information technology, digital marketing, beautification and hospitality. Students who complete the programmes will receive certification.
The two institutions will also collaborate on internships and apprenticeship programmes to provide students with practical workplace exposure, create potential employment opportunities, and help them build practical and professional skills alongside their academic knowledge.
The partnership will also facilitate joint research, seminars, workshops, and development programmes focused on changing labour market demands, skills requirements, and employment, strengthening communication and cooperation between educational institutions and industry.
