National Bank secures ISO 27001:2022 information security certification
National Bank has achieved the internationally recognised ISO 27001:2022 certification for its Information Security Management System (ISMS), reinforcing its commitment to global standards in information security and IT governance.
A certificate handover ceremony was held on 11 December 2025 at the bank's head office, where K Nagaraj, country head of TÜV SÜD, formally handed over the certification to Adil Chowdhury, managing director of National Bank. Deputy managing directors, divisional heads and senior officials of the bank were also present.
Speaking at the event, Adil Chowdhury said cyber risks are increasing rapidly in the digital era, making robust information security frameworks essential for financial institutions. He noted that the renewed certification reflects the bank's long-term commitment to sustainable progress in information security and governance, aligning its systems with international best practices.
He added that the achievement was the result of collective effort and professionalism across the information security, information technology, risk management and other relevant departments. The bank, he said, will continue its digital transformation while maintaining the highest security standards.
National Bank first obtained ISO certification in 2010 for its in-house developed software and later achieved ISO 27001:2013 certification in 2018, covering its full IT infrastructure.
Over the years, the bank has strengthened its technology landscape through a secured data centre, large-scale virtualisation, a robust core banking system, a load-balanced network infrastructure and an in-house core banking system customisation team.
Under its current leadership, National Bank is progressing towards AI-driven services, with a focus on delivering faster and safer banking solutions through strategic technology investments.
