‘My Bangladesh my development’ photo contest announced by JICA
Japan International Cooperation Agency (Jica) Bangladesh has announced a national-level photography competition to capture Bangladesh's development through the eyes of ordinary people.
Titled 'My Bangladesh My Development', the competition invites individuals from all walks of life, as well as photography enthusiasts, to portray the nation's development as they perceive it through their own lenses.
The initiative seeks to highlight the everyday stories of progress and development that people across Bangladesh witness in their daily lives and to draw wider attention to these narratives through photography.
The competition will remain open until 20 January 2026. Participants are required to submit one original photograph, taken using either a smartphone or a professional camera, that reflects the concept of Bangladesh's development. The photograph must be shared from the participant's own Facebook profile with a public setting, using the hashtags 'My Bangladesh My Development' and 'Jica Bangladesh'. Additionally, the photograph must be submitted via a designated Google Form, accompanied by a brief description explaining how the image relates to development and how it tells the story of the captured moment. Downloaded images, photographs taken from others, or any content generated using artificial intelligence technology will not be accepted.
A jury panel appointed by Jica Bangladesh will evaluate the submitted photographs. Winners will be selected based on several criteria, including relevance to the theme, technical quality, editing, originality, storytelling, creativity, and overall composition. The reach of the Facebook post will also be considered during the final evaluation.
Shortlisted photographs will be showcased in a digital exhibition organised by Jica Bangladesh. Of these, the best four photographs will receive cash prizes. Selected images may also be published on Jica's website, social media platforms, and other promotional channels globally, with due credit given to the photographers.
Jica Bangladesh has urged participants to prioritise personal safety while taking photographs and to remain within ethical and legal boundaries. Through this initiative, Jica aims not only to document Bangladesh's development stories from the perspective of its people but also to present these narratives to a global audience.
