MTB disburses loans to 58 Gobindaganj hosiery entrepreneurs
Mutual Trust Bank PLC (MTB) has sanctioned fresh loans to 58 cottage and small-scale manufacturers in Gobindaganj, Gaibandha, under Bangladesh Bank's Cluster Finance Refinance Scheme to help expand their winter apparel businesses.
The bank has been supporting the development of the Gobindaganj Hosiery Cluster since 2022, MTB said in a press release.
A loan disbursement ceremony was recently held in Gobindaganj, where Chowdhury Akhtar Asif, Acting Managing Director of MTB, handed over the loan cheques to the entrepreneurs as the chief guest.
Syeda Yasmin Sultana, Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) of Gobindaganj, and AKM Tareq, Deputy Managing Director & Head of Branch Banking Division of MTB, attended the event as special guests.
Speaking at the event, Chowdhury Akhtar Asif reaffirmed MTB's commitment to supporting the sustainable growth of the cluster through enhanced access to finance, entrepreneurship development, employee skill enhancement, promotion of digital payments through QR code adoption, and improved financial literacy among cluster members.
Among others, Khalid Hossin, Head of Digital Banking Division; Kudrat-E-Khoda Md Samiul Karim, Regional Head of MTB; and entrepreneurs from the cluster attended the event.
The programme was presided over by Sanjib Kumar Dey, Head of the SME & Agri Banking Division of MTB, who assured the entrepreneurs of the bank's continued support to strengthen the growth and competitiveness of the Gobindaganj Hosiery Cluster.
