Midland Bank reviews H1 performance, sets strategy for rest of 2026
Midland Bank PLC has mapped out a sharpened strategy to accelerate growth and improve operational performance for the remainder of 2026, following a comprehensive review of its half-year results at a high-level conference in Dhaka.
The bank held its Half-Yearly Strategic Conference 2026 at Fortis Downtown Resort in Dhaka on Saturday, 18 July, according to a press release.
The event was attended by members of the Senior Management Team, divisional heads, unit heads, area heads, cluster heads, branch managers, subbranch managers, relationship managers and other officials.
Chairman of the Board of Directors, Ahsan Khan Chowdhury, attended as the chief guest.
Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer Imtiaz Uddin Ahmed inaugurated and chaired the business sessions.
In his opening remarks, he reviewed the bank's performance during the first half of the year and emphasised customer-focused service delivery, sustainable business growth, regulatory compliance, the recovery of non-performing loans, and the maintenance of asset quality.
Chief Financial Officer Didarul Islam presented the bank's overall financial performance, while Head of Treasury and Market Risk Sushanta Sekhar Deb reviewed treasury operations.
Area heads presented analyses of profitability, deposit composition, loan recovery and business plans for the next six months.
The conference also reviewed the performance and strategic outlook of agent banking, cards, bancassurance, SME banking and other business units.
High-performing branch managers shared best practices, while representatives of branches with weaker results outlined plans for improving operational and business performance.
Head of the Institutional Banking Division Md Javed Tarek Khan presented a review of the division's performance during the first half of the year.
Deputy Managing Director and Chief Technology Officer Md Nazmul Huda Sarkar led a discussion on operations, cards, bancassurance, agent banking and management information systems.
Participants also discussed credit administration, credit risk management, anti-money laundering, special asset management, legal affairs and information security.
Addressing the evening session, Chairman of the Board of Directors Ahsan Khan Chowdhury encouraged officials to focus on innovation, teamwork, customer service and sustainable growth.
Top performers from different business segments were recognised with crests, certificates, cash rewards and promotions at a ceremony.
The conference concluded with a friendly football tournament, where the Head Office Team emerged as champion and the Subbranch Team finished as runner-up.
