Midland Bank holds training on Islamic banking fundamentals
Midland Bank PLC has organised a comprehensive two-day training programme focused on Islamic banking principles, products, operations and regulatory requirements at its Training Institute in Banani, Dhaka, aiming to enhance staff expertise as the bank accelerates its Shariah-compliant offerings.
The event, titled "Islamic Banking Fundamentals", took place on 4 and 11 July 2026, uniting senior executives, branch managers and officials from across Midland Bank PLC for in-depth capacity building.
On the first day, sessions were conducted by Md Fariduddin Ahmed, former managing director and chief executive officer of Islami Bank Bangladesh PLC, and MM Saiful Islam, Deputy Managing Director of Shahjalal Islami Bank PLC.
The second day's sessions were led by Md Jafar Sadeq, Fellow Chartered Accountant and Deputy Managing Director of Shahjalal Islami Bank PLC, and Dr Md Hafizur Rahman, certified Shariah adviser and auditor and Assistant Vice President of City Bank PLC.
Midland Bank PLC Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer Imtiaz U Ahmed, Deputy Managing Director and Chief Risk Officer Md Zahid Hossain, and Deputy Managing Director and Chief Technology Officer Md Nazmul Huda Sarkar were present at the programme.
Senior management team members, heads of divisions, area heads, selected branch managers and all officials of the bank's Banani Branch also participated.
According to Midland Bank PLC, the initiative is part of broader efforts to strengthen employees' professional knowledge and capabilities in Shariah-compliant banking as the bank expands its Islamic banking services.
