Metro commuters get digital top-up option via bkash
Metro rail passengers can now recharge their travel cards through bKash from the comfort of their homes, eliminating the need to queue at stations or bank booths.
The new feature makes the process faster, simpler and more cost-effective for commuters as well as metro rail authorities.
Currently, two types of cards — Rapid Pass and MRT Pass — are used in the metro rail system. Both can now be recharged using bKash.
As part of the launch offer, customers will receive a 5% cashback on metro rail card recharges made through bKash until 31 December 2025. The offer is valid once per day and up to two times during the campaign period, with a maximum cashback of Tk100.
To recharge, users can tap the Metro Rail icon on the bKash app or visit the Rapid Pass website or app. After signing up and linking their card, users can select bKash as the payment method, complete the recharge, and update the balance by tapping the card on an Add Value Machine (AVM) at any station.
An SMS confirmation is sent once the process is successful. Customers can recharge between Tk100 and Tk5,000 in a single transaction.
The new service marks another step toward making urban commuting in Dhaka more digital, efficient and passenger-friendly.
