Mastercard, IBBPLC introduce dual currency card for doctors and students

Mastercard, in collaboration with Islami Bank Bangladesh PLC (IBBPLC), has launched an exclusive co-branded debit card for students and doctors at Rajshahi Medical College.
The card is designed to offer convenient and secure digital payment solutions, featuring dual-currency contactless functionality for seamless transactions both locally and internationally. Cardholders will also enjoy lifestyle benefits, including discounts at more than 9,500 Mastercard partner merchants across Bangladesh.
The launch event was attended by Prof Dr Kh Md Faisal Alam, Principal of Rajshahi Medical College; Rathin Kumar Paul, Director, Rajshahi Office, Bangladesh Bank; Md Sharafat Ullah Khan, Director, Payment Systems Department, Bangladesh Bank; Rafeza Akhter Kanta, Director, Payment Systems Department, Bangladesh Bank; Syed Mohammad Kamal, Country Manager, Bangladesh, Mastercard; and Mohammad Jamal Uddin Mazumder, Additional Managing Director, Islami Bank Bangladesh PLC, alongside senior officials from the three organisations.
Speaking at the event, Syed Mohammad Kamal, Country Manager, Bangladesh, Mastercard, said the collaboration reflects Mastercard's commitment to fostering financial inclusion and promoting a cashless economy in Bangladesh. "Through this co-branded card, students and doctors will not only have secure access to digital transactions, but will also enjoy lifestyle benefits that enhance their day-to-day experiences," he noted.
