ISU launches Master of Public Health programme

International Standard University (ISU) inaugurated its inaugural Master of Public Health (MPH) cohort on Friday at its Mohakhali campus, marking a significant milestone in the advancement of higher education and public health leadership in Bangladesh.
ISU Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Abdul Awal Khan attended as the chief guest. Highlighting the importance of public health education, he said: "This programme will equip students with the skills and knowledge required to become competent public health professionals and researchers who can contribute meaningfully to both national and global health initiatives."
The inaugural cohort expressed a strong commitment to advancing healthcare in Bangladesh. They noted that the MPH programme offers up-to-date knowledge, research skills, and practical training to prepare them for influential roles within the health sector.
The ceremony, presided over by Dr Fahmida Binte Mesbah, Head of the Department of Public Health, was also attended by ISU Treasurer Professor H.T.M. Quader Newaz; Dean of Business Studies Professor Dr Manzur Morshed Mahmud; Dean of Engineering, Technology and Health Sciences Professor Md Abul Kashem; and public health specialists Professor Dr Shafiqul Islam and Professor Dr Shahanaz Chowdhury. Professor Mohammad Ali delivered the welcome address.
The first cohort comprises professionals from leading hospitals, clinics and institutions nationwide, demonstrating the programme's wide appeal and significance. The event brought together academic staff, students and officials, underscoring ISU's commitment to developing future leaders in public health.
