ISU holds festive programme to welcome bangla new year
International Standard University (ISU) hosted 'Praner Utsabjatra' at its Mohakhali campus on Monday, marking Chaitra Sankranti and the Bangla New Year with vibrant festivities.
The event saw enthusiastic participation from students, faculty, and staff, led by ISU Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Abdul Auwal Khan as the chief guest, according to a press release.
A colourful procession, featuring participants in traditional attire, paraded through key roads in the university area, showcasing the richness of Bengali culture.
Addressing the gathering, the vice-chancellor emphasised that Boishakhi fairs, festivals, and childhood memories are integral to Bengali culture. He urged students to uphold their cultural heritage alongside academic and career pursuits, enabling the Bengali nation to achieve greater recognition globally.
Notable attendees included Professor Dr Monjur Morshed Mahmud, Dean, Faculty of Business Studies; Professor Dr Mohammad Abul Kashem, Dean, Faculty of Engineering and Technology; Professor Dr Md Ekramul Haque, Director, IQAC; Registrar Md Faizullah Koushik; departmental heads; and faculty members.
According to the university, the programme—organised to bid farewell to the old year and welcome the new—embodied the traditions, values, and festive spirit of Bengali culture. A digital registration process was implemented, allowing participants to sign up for activities online prior to the event.
