AIUB photography workshop pays tribute to student Thanvir Siddique Mazumder
On 30 July, the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication (JMC) at American International University-Bangladesh (AIUB) organised a day-long mobile photography workshop and competition in honour of student and photographer Thanvir Siddique Mazumder.
Held on Thanvir's birthday, the programme celebrated his passion for photography and his contributions to the AIUB community while providing students with practical experience in visual storytelling, according to a press release.
The programme began with a welcome address by JMC Senior Faculty Member Niaz Majumdar.

He highlighted photography as a powerful medium of communication and reflected on Thanvir's passion for visual storytelling.
AIUB Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Saiful Islam; Pro Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Md Abdur Rahman; and Faculty of Social Science (FASS) Dean Professor Dr Tazul Islam addressed the inaugural session.
The speakers emphasised art's enduring power to preserve memories, express human emotions and inspire future generations.
During the workshop, students gained practical experience in portrait photography and were encouraged to observe, interpret and document human expressions through visual narratives.
The programme concluded with Niaz Majumdar announcing the competition winners, followed by an award and prize-giving ceremony.
FASS Associate Dean Dr Faria Sultana, JMC Department Head Professor Dr Pradip Kumar Panday and other faculty members attended the event.
The guests congratulated the winners and encouraged all participants to continue developing their creativity and photographic skills.
