Islamic Arabic University celebrates World Arabic Language Day

On the occasion of World Arabic Language Day-2024, a discussion meeting, rally and prize distribution ceremony for the winners of the Arabic essay competition titled "Arabic Language and Artificial Intelligence: Inspiring Innovation and Preserving Cultural Heritage" was held at the Bangladesh National Museum auditorium located in Shahbagh, Dhaka at 10:00 am, organised by the Islamic Arabic University.
The Honourable Vice-Chancellor of Islamic Arabic University, Professor Dr Shamsul Alam, presided over the programme. It was attended by Professor Dr Niaz Ahmed Khan, Honorable Vice Chancellor of Dhaka University, as the chief guest. The program was welcomed by the University's Pro-Vice Chancellor, Professor Dr Mohammad Shahidul Islam, Pro-Vice Chancellor, Professor Dr Muhammad Abu Zafar Khan, Treasurer Mr A S M Mamunur Rahman Khalili, Dean Professor Dr Muhammad Shazaat Ullah Farooqui, Dean Professor Dr Muhammad Ali Ullah, Registrar Mr Ayub Hossain, Kamal Alhaj Mahmud Khalifa, Former Country Director Al Fujairah Welfare Society Bangladesh and Professor Dr Zayed Bin Ghanem Al Juhani, Former Professor, Islamic University of Madinah, Saudi Arabia.
As the chief guest at the event, Professor Dr Niaz Ahmed Khan said, "Arabic is an international and ancient language whose importance and value are immense. The influence of Arabic is worldwide. It is not only a language but also an important carrier of culture. Today's use of Arabic is increasing daily, and its importance is also increasing. Respecting such a language is part of respecting oneself. Especially for Muslims, the status of Arabic is even greater because it is the language of the Holy Quran. This language is a connecting medium between this world and the hereafter. Organising a nationwide essay competition to practise Arabic is a commendable initiative. Through this, enthusiasm has been instilled among young students. This event will be important in developing our culture and promoting the language."
In his speech in the chair, Honourable Vice Chancellor Professor Dr Shamsul Alam said that by acquiring proficiency in the Arabic language, madrasa students of this country could get job opportunities in different countries of the Middle East. Through this, Bangladesh's remittance will increase, and economic prosperity will increase. Arabic is the language of the Holy Quran, the language of the prophets. Mentioning the dignity and importance of this language extensively, the Honourable VC said that in the future, practical training in the Arabic language will be arranged in all Fazil and Kamil madrasas affiliated with Islamic Arabic University. He congratulated all the students who won the Arabic language essay competition and instructed the principals present to motivate the students by organising such competitions in the future.
Among the winners of the national-level Arabic essay writing competition, Md. Mahmudur Rahman (Fazil Honors 1st year), Darunnajat Siddiquia Kamil Madrasa, Demra, Dhaka, won the first place. Md. Emran Hossain (Kamil Postgraduate 2nd year), Moukara Darussunnat Nesaria Kamil Madrasa Moukara Darbar Sharif, Nangalkot, Comilla, won the second place. Mohammad Nurul Absar (Kamil Postgraduate 1st year), Chunati Hakimia Kamil Madrasa Chunati, Lohagara, Chittagong, won third place.
The programme was hosted by Assistant Registrar Mr Fahad Ahmed Momtaji and Lecturer (Arabic) Mr Harunur Rashid. Teachers, officials, employees of all university levels, and guests were present. At the end of the programme prayers and supplications were offered for the overall development of the university.
