Islami Bank will regain lost glory soon
Islami Bank Bangladesh PLC will regain its lost standing and reach new heights through professional management, said Mohammad Zahir Hussain, Executive Director of Bangladesh Bank and sole representative of the Board of Directors of Islami Bank.
He made the remarks at a clients' get-together organised by the bank's Head Office Complex Corporate Branch on Wednesday (22 July).
"Depositors are the true owners of Islami Bank. Bangladesh Bank and the bank's management are working tirelessly to protect their interests," he said.

"As long as Bangladesh exists, Insha'Allah, Islami Bank will survive with glory. It will not be a bank belonging to any individual, group or community; it will be a bank for the people," he added.
Seeking to reassure customers, Mohammad Zahir Hussain said Islami Bank's share capital stood at Tk6,500 crore, while customer deposits totalled nearly Tk1.75 lakh crore.
He said the bank's experienced management team, whose members had worked in the sector for 30 to 35 years, had been given full authority and trust to run its operations.
"The board's responsibility is to formulate policies, while professionals will run the bank," he said.
Calling on customers and depositors to support the bank and help increase its deposits, he said there was no scope for Islami Bank to look back.
Md Altaf Hossain, Managing Director (Acting), and Mahmud Hossain Khan, Executive Vice President of the bank, addressed the programme as special guests.
Mohammad Kutub Uddin, Executive Vice President and Head of the Head Office Complex Corporate Branch, presided over the event, while Abdul Latif, Senior Vice President, delivered the welcome address.
Dr Mawlana Mahmudul Hasan, Muhaddith at Mesbahul Ulum Kamil Madrasha; Md Mamun Ur Rashid, FACM, Director of Biman Bangladesh Airlines; Golam Murshid Bappi, Executive Director of Akij Group; and Abul Hossain Apu, Managing Director of Al-Muslim Group, spoke on behalf of the customers.
The bank's executives and officials, local businesspeople and well-wishers also attended.
