ISD hosts panel on future careers and global opportunities
In a recent panel discussion at International School Dhaka (ISD), tech leaders, creative professionals and entrepreneurs shared insights on building careers in a rapidly changing global landscape and preparing students for future opportunities.
Hosted by the school, the event titled "Voice of Change" featured a panel of five speakers, three of whom are ISD alumni. The speakers included Toronto-based engineering leader at DoorDash Shehzad Noor Taus; Miss Universe Bangladesh and make-up artist Aniqa Alam; entrepreneur and owner of the Privé salon chain Nahila Hedayet; businessman, fitness advocate and ISD alumnus Rawan Chowdhury; and economist, entrepreneur and make-up artist Salsabina Shorna.
Drawing on their diverse professional journeys, the panel offered students, parents and members of the wider community a grounded perspective on how discipline, creativity, digital literacy and personal ambition shape modern career pathways.
Speaking about his journey, ISD and University of British Columbia alumnus Shehzad Noor Taus, who has been recognised in Forbes' "30 Under 30" list, said, "Learning to code at ten gave me a head start that kept compounding over the years. When you start early, it becomes part of who you are, and the people around you play a major role in shaping that path."
Reflecting on her experience in the creative field, alumna Aniqa Alam said, "What began as an enjoyment of Instagram gradually became a platform where people noticed my work and invited me into creative spaces I had never imagined. Today, a strong social media presence is essential for creative and professional discovery."
The discussion also explored the practical realities of modern work, including balancing social media as a professional tool rather than a distraction, the role of fitness in physical and mental well-being, and the importance of developing a focused niche.
ISD Director Steve Calland-Scoble said, "What made this panel especially powerful was seeing how our alumni and community members continue to inspire one another through the experiences they began building at ISD."
The event gained added significance as ISD recently marked its 25th anniversary. The school said it plans to continue hosting similar initiatives and remains engaged with its alumni and wider community to foster dialogue, collaboration and shared learning.
