IPDC introduces BYD plug-in hybrid as part of sustainability push
IPDC Finance PLC has expanded its sustainability efforts by adding the BYD Sealion 6, a plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV), to its official fleet.
This move follows the installation of an EV charging station at IPDC's corporate headquarters earlier this year, further reinforcing the company's commitment to environmentally responsible operations.
The collaboration between IPDC Finance PLC and BYD Bangladesh aims to promote cleaner and more fuel-efficient transport options, supporting Bangladesh's gradual transition towards sustainable mobility. As a leading financial institution, IPDC stated it is integrating green innovations into its operations to encourage responsible use of fossil fuels.
"Our commitment to sustainability is reflected through action," said Rizwan Dawood Shams, Managing Director of IPDC Finance PLC. "Adding the BYD Sealion 6 PHEV to our fleet is a meaningful step towards improving fuel efficiency and reducing fossil fuel consumption. We hope this partnership inspires more organisations to adopt sustainable practices that benefit people and the planet."
Fahmid Ferdows, Head of Sales at BYD Bangladesh, said, "We are pleased to collaborate with IPDC as it takes a forward-looking step towards sustainable mobility. Institutions adopting PHEV technology demonstrate a strong commitment to eco-friendly transport."
With one of the world's leading PHEV models now part of its fleet, IPDC stated it is ready to support the country's evolving vehicle ecosystem with more fuel-efficient solutions. The initiative builds on earlier partnerships, including with Mercedes-Benz Bangladesh, and the installation of an EV charging station in Gulshan.
IPDC Finance PLC reaffirmed its commitment to positive environmental impact through innovation, responsible business practices, and continued investment in green technologies.
