IPDC collaborates with Brac University on sustainable housing project
As part of its ongoing CSR and sustainability commitments, IPDC Finance PLC, the first non-bank financial institution in Bangladesh, has partnered with the School of Architecture and Design at Brac University to launch the "Affordable and Sustainable Housing Design Project".
The initiative aims to address the need for affordable, resilient, and eco-friendly housing solutions for low- and middle-income communities across Bangladesh.
Under this CSR-driven collaboration, the School of Architecture and Design will develop environmentally responsible housing designs tailored to the socio-economic realities of local communities. In parallel, IPDC Finance will identify and engage eligible clients through its Bhalobasha Home Loan programme, enabling families to access these sustainable housing models.
The initiative reflects IPDC's broader vision to promote inclusive growth, social well-being, and sustainable development by combining financial innovation with community-centred design. Once implemented, the housing model will be replicated nationwide to expand access to affordable and sustainable homes.
Representatives from both institutions attended the ceremony, including Professor Fuad Hassan Mallick, Dean, and Professor Zainab Faruqui Ali, Chairperson of the School of Architecture and Design. From IPDC Finance, attendees included Samiul Hashim, Head of Legal and Company Secretary, and Mohammad Monirul Islam, Head of Retail Business, along with senior officials and faculty members from the respective institutions.
Speaking on the occasion, Rizwan Dawood Shams, managing director of IPDC Finance PLC, said, "At IPDC, we view sustainability as a cornerstone of our CSR philosophy. Access to safe, sustainable housing should be a right, not a privilege. Through this collaboration with Brac University, we are merging academic innovation with practical financial solutions to improve the living standards of Bangladesh's underserved communities."
Echoing his remarks, Professor Fuad Hassan Mallick said, "Our partnership with IPDC seeks to create design solutions that are both sustainable and sensitive to the economic realities of low- and middle-income families. Together, we hope to pioneer a model for affordable living that can inspire future housing initiatives nationwide."
This collaboration reaffirms IPDC's commitment to driving social impact through responsible finance, sustainability, and community empowerment, in line with its long-term CSR and ESG objectives.
