EBL records growth across key financial indicators in 2025
Eastern Bank PLC (EBL) has reported robust financial results for 2025, achieving a 20 per cent increase in profit after tax to Tk901 crore.
The performance underscores EBL's earnings momentum and resilient business model amid a challenging operating environment.
Driven by prudent balance sheet management and disciplined risk practices, the bank recorded strong growth across key financial indicators. Deposits rose by 21.6 per cent to Tk55,645 crore, while loans and advances increased by 16.1 per cent to Tk47,704 crore. Investments surged by 47.8 per cent to Tk21,147 crore by year-end.
Asset quality remained a key strength. The bank's non-performing loan ratio declined to 2.24 per cent in December 2025, significantly outperforming the industry average of 30.60 per cent, reflecting stringent credit discipline and effective risk management.
EBL maintained full compliance with all regulatory requirements and did not breach any regulatory or Basel III-related liquidity thresholds during the year.
Profitability indicators reflected sustained strength. Return on equity improved to 19.13 per cent in 2025 from 18.57 per cent a year earlier, while the cost-to-income ratio remained among the lowest in the industry at 40.36 per cent, underscoring operational efficiency.
EBL continued to deliver value for shareholders, with earnings per share rising to Tk5.65 from Tk4.70 (restated) in 2024, and net asset value per share increasing to Tk31.86 from Tk27.16 (restated).
To support future growth and resilience, EBL further strengthened its capital base, with the capital-to-risk-weighted assets ratio increasing to 15.49 per cent on a solo basis, compared with 15.11 per cent in 2024.
Overall, EBL's 2025 results reaffirm its financial strength, disciplined execution, and ability to deliver consistent returns. The bank stated it is well-positioned to advance its strategic priorities in 2026, maintaining a focus on sustainable growth, prudent risk management, and long-term value creation for stakeholders.
