International Standard University launches textile magazine
International Standard University (ISU) has launched the inaugural issue of its textile-focused magazine, 'Spandex', aiming to foster creativity, innovative thinking and presentation skills among students.
The launch event was held at the university's media lab on Thursday, organised by the ISU Textile Club.
Vice-chancellor Professor Dr Abdul Awal Khan formally inaugurated the publication.
Professor Md Abul Kashem, dean, Faculty of Engineering and Technology and chairman, Department of Textile Engineering, chaired the event.
Assistant professor Shamima Siddika, senior lecturer Habiba Altaf, lecturer Md Hasibul Hasan, department heads and students attended.
Speaking at the event, Professor Dr Abdul Awal Khan highlighted the textile sector as a key driver of Bangladesh's economy and emphasised the importance of innovation and problem-solving to sustain growth.
He noted that 'Spandex' would serve as a platform for students to engage with the industry and gain practical insights for their future careers.
He also encouraged students to go beyond textbooks by participating in writing, analytical thinking and creative activities.
Professor Md Abul Kashem stated that the magazine would help develop students' intellectual and analytical skills.
He added that contributing to the publication would enable students to address real industry challenges and present innovative ideas.
'Spandex', a textile-focused magazine under the Department of Textile Engineering, has been published by the ISU Textile Club.
