Job-oriented education vital for building skilled workforce: Mir Helal
State Minister for Land and Chittagong Hill Tracts Affairs Barrister Mir Mohammad Helal Uddin, MP, has stressed the need to equip students with practical and job-oriented education to build the skilled workforce required for the country's overall development and progress.
He made the remarks on Tuesday (11 August) while inaugurating the newly constructed "Mir Mohammad Nasir Uddin Academic Building" at Mir Nowabul Haque Memorial High School in Hathazari, Chattogram, according to a press release.
The school's founder and former minister, Chattogram mayor and ambassador Mir Mohammad Nasir Uddin attended the programme as chief guest. State Minister Barrister Mir Mohammad Helal Uddin unveiled the plaque of the newly constructed academic building.

"Considering the demands of the present time and the global context, it is essential to make students proficient in technical education," Mir Helal said.
He said the government led by Prime Minister Tarique Rahman had taken significant measures to expand technical education alongside general education across the country.
"The previous fascist government destroyed our education system during its 17 years in power. The current government is working tirelessly to reform it and develop a modern and sustainable education system," the state minister said.
"Our objective is to create skilled human resources while building an advanced and educated nation," he added.
Addressing the students, Mir Helal urged them to begin developing themselves as competent and responsible citizens to succeed in their future careers.
At the end of his speech, he announced that he would personally bear the full educational expenses for one year of the student who secured first place from the school in the SSC or equivalent examinations. He said the award was intended to encourage the student to pursue higher education.
Speaking as chief guest, School Founder and former minister, Chattogram Mayor and Ambassador Mir Mohammad Nasir Uddin recalled his memories of Hathazari.
"I have a bond of blood and soul with the soil of Hathazari. I studied at this Hathazari High School. I endured hardship and walked miles to and from school, but we had immense respect, love and dedication towards our studies," he said emotionally.
Addressing parents and local residents, Mir Nasir urged them to raise their children as honest and principled individuals.
"Ensure that they do not become involved in any wrongdoing or criminal activity. By living honestly, they will be able to prosper in life and dedicate themselves to the welfare of the country," he said.
"An honest and well-educated young generation is the true light of society," he added.
Mir Nasir said there was no place for wrongdoing in society.
"If you see any wrongdoing or corruption anywhere, come directly to me or State Minister Mir Helal. We will immediately take stringent legal action," he said.
Mir Nowabul Haque Memorial High School Head Teacher Muhammad Selim Uddin Reza chaired the programme.
School Donor Member Barrister Israt Naznin Nasir, Hathazari Upazila Nirbahi Officer Muhammad Abdullah Al Mumin and Education Engineering Department Chattogram Executive Engineer Tanvir Islam attended the programme as special guests.
