Independence Day Walton International Rating Chess Tournament to begin on Saturday

The Independence Day Walton International Rating Chess Tournament 2025 will begin on Saturday, 15 March 2025, under the patronage of Walton Hi-Tech Industries PLC and organised by the Bangladesh Chess Federation. This 9-day event will run until 23 March.
To provide detailed information about the tournament, a press conference was held on Thursday, 13 March, at the Bangladesh Chess Federation's sports hall on the third floor of the National Sports Council's old building. The conference featured a written speech by Syed Sujauddin Ahmed, former Secretary and President of the Bangladesh Chess Federation.
FM Iqbal Bin Anwar (Don), Senior Executive Director of Walton Hi-Tech Industries PLC, Mohammad Robiul Islam Milton, Additional Executive Director, and Lokman Hossain Molla (Lovelou), Joint Secretary of the Bangladesh Chess Federation, also spoke during the event.
The press conference informed the public that the official opening ceremony will be held on Saturday at the Bangladesh Chess Federation's sports hall, followed immediately by the first round of the competition. The tournament is open to all, and interested participants must submit their entries along with the entry fee to the Bangladesh Chess Federation by Friday, 14 March.
The tournament will be held in a 9-round Swiss-League format, and the winners will receive a total of BDT 150,000 in cash prizes, along with Walton product gifts.
