Ex-VC Pran Gopal's daughter Anindita confined at BSMMU, rescued by Army

A group of people confined Anindita Dutta, an associate professor in the Radiology and Imaging Department at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) at her office today (16 March).
Being informed by the BSMMU authorities, the army rushed to the spot and rescued Anindita, daughter of Professor Pran Gopal Dutta, former vice-chancellor of BSMMU and a former Awami League MP.
BSMMU Public Relations Officer Prashant Majumder told The Business Standard that Anindita had been confined in her office until around 2:30pm. "Later the army arrived and escorted her home."
Sources said Anindita was confined in her office at the Cancer Building at approximately 11am. After the administration was notified, both the army and the police rushed to the scene.
The army later helped her leave the hospital and ensured her safe return home.
Dr Anindita's father Dr Pran Gopal Dutta served as vice chancellor of BSMMU from 2009 to 2015. In 2021, he was elected unopposed as the Member of Parliament for Comilla-7 constituency in a by-election.
