Inauguration of AKS Diagnostic Centre and AKS Pharmacy in Chakaria
On Tuesday, May 20, 2025, the official inauguration of the AKS Diagnostic Centre and AKS Pharmacy took place in Chakaria, Cox's Bazar.
The event was graced by Mr. A.K. Shamsuddin Khan, Chairman of AKS Khan Pharmaceuticals Ltd., as the Chief Guest. Mr. Klaus Prebensen attended as the Special Guest representing Denmark's Investment Fund for Developing Countries (IFU), and the Managing Director of the company, Ms Samanjar S. Khan, was present as an Honoured Guest. Mr. Al Emran Chowdhury, Director and CEO of AKS Khan Pharmaceuticals Ltd, conducted the program.
Speakers highlighted the rapid development of Chakaria and surrounding areas, stating that the region is transforming into an emerging urban hub with growing access to modern facilities and infrastructure. With the rise in population and employment opportunities, the standard of living is also improving. As a result, the demand for affordable, quality healthcare is increasing steadily.
The new AKS Diagnostic Centre and Pharmacy aims to improve access to and affordability of healthcare services for the people of Chakaria, Maheshkhali, Matarbari, Badarkhali, and neighbouring regions.
It is worth noting that IFU is a key strategic investor in AKS Khan Pharmaceuticals Ltd. and supports the establishment of over 100 new pharmacies and diagnostic centres across Bangladesh. This initiative will open new avenues for delivering quality healthcare services to underserved areas of the country.
Mr Klaus Prebensen, Investment Director of IFU, stated, "Our partnership with AKS Khan Pharmaceuticals Ltd. was formed to bring affordable and quality medicines and diagnostic services to remote areas of Bangladesh. The opening of this centre in Chakaria is a major step toward achieving that mission. This joint effort aims to strengthen the country's healthcare system by making international standard healthcare accessible to more people."
The speakers added that this initiative will provide advanced diagnostic services, quality medicines, and trusted consultations to the local communities of Chakaria, Maheshkhali, Matarbari, and Badarkhali, bringing healthcare closer to people's doorsteps. They expressed hope that this initiative will bring positive change to the healthcare landscape in these regions.
At the end of the event, guests visited various units of the diagnostic centre and pharmacy, expressing their satisfaction with the initiative.
