IMBD Agency takes over management of Desh Media
IMBD Agency Limited has acquired management rights and an ownership stake in Desh Media, a government-registered newspaper, through a formal agreement signed today in Dhaka.
The signing and transfer of ownership took place at IMBD Agency's head office in Banani. The agreement was signed by Bulbul Ahmed, Founder and Editor of Desh Media, and Shamim Ahmed, Managing Director of IMBD Agency Limited, in the presence of senior officials from both organisations.
IMBD Agency said the move aims to strengthen Desh Media as a credible news platform at a time when many unregistered online portals are operating in the country. Desh Media has been registered with the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting since 2013 and is listed with the Department of Films and Publications (DFP). Following the acquisition, the newspaper will operate under the technical and strategic supervision of IMBD Agency.
Speaking after the signing, Shamim Ahmed, Managing Director of IMBD Agency and newly appointed Executive Director of Desh Media, said restoring public trust in online news media is essential. He noted that IMBD Agency had taken responsibility for an established and registered media outlet rather than launching a new portal, adding that technology-driven operations, rebranding and structured growth would be prioritised to position Desh Media as a mainstream media outlet.
Bulbul Ahmed, Editor of Desh Media, said technology is essential for modernising media operations and keeping pace with changing times. He expressed confidence that, under the leadership of Shamim Ahmed and the IMBD Agency team, Desh Media would play a stronger role in delivering accurate and responsible news.
The authorities said Desh Media would begin its official relaunch soon with a new look, supported by experienced journalists and a professional editorial and operational team.
