IBFB brings diplomats together to advance investment dialogue
The International Business Forum of Bangladesh (IBFB) celebrated its 20th anniversary on 11 June 2026 at the Radisson Blu Water Garden Hotel, Dhaka, convening a distinguished gathering of diplomats, business leaders, academics, media professionals and civil society representatives.
The programme commenced with the National Anthem, followed by a presentation highlighting IBFB's two-decade journey and its ongoing commitment to fostering a more conducive business environment in Bangladesh through research, policy dialogue and advocacy.
In her welcome address, Lutfunnisa Saudia Khan, President of IBFB, underscored the organisation's principal achievements over the past 20 years and reiterated its pledge to strengthen public-private dialogue for inclusive and sustainable economic development.
H E Brent T. Christensen, the United States Ambassador to Bangladesh, attended the event as the guest of honour.
He noted Bangladesh's considerable potential for further economic growth through enhanced cooperation and private sector-driven development.
He also said the recently signed treaty between the United States and Bangladesh would benefit Bangladesh.
Other distinguished attendees included HE Ramis Şen, Ambassador of Türkiye; HE Ghanshyam Bhandari, Ambassador of Nepal; HE Jameel bin Haji bin Ismaeel Al Balushi, Ambassador of Oman; HE Nguyen Manh Cuong, Ambassador of Vietnam; Mitchell Lee, Chargé d'Affaires of Singapore; HE Haji Haris Othman, High Commissioner of Brunei Darussalam; HE U Kyaw Soe Moe, Ambassador of Myanmar; HE Shiuneen Rasheed, High Commissioner of Maldives; Takahashi Naoki, Deputy Chief of Mission at the Embassy of Japan; John Fluharty, Resident Programme Director, International Republican Institute (IRI); Abdul Rahim Khan, Administrator, FBCCI; Mahmudul Islam Chowdhury, Founding President, IBFB; Hafizur Rahman Khan, Past President, IBFB; and Humayun Rashid, Immediate Past President, IBFB.
The celebration concluded with a cake-cutting ceremony, cultural performances, a group photograph and dinner.
Participants commended IBFB's sustained role as a credible and non-partisan platform dedicated to advancing Bangladesh's business and investment climate.
