Guardian Life elevates Sheikh Rakibul Karim to top post
Sheikh Rakibul Karim, FCA, has been appointed Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Guardian Life Insurance Limited, following approval from the Insurance Development and Regulatory Authority (IDRA).
Prior to his appointment, Sheikh Rakibul Karim served as the company's Additional Managing Director and Acting Chief Executive Officer. The appointment reflects the Board's confidence in his leadership and his role in strengthening Guardian's growth, governance, and customer-centric strategy.
He joined Guardian Life Insurance Limited in 2019 as Chief Financial Officer and subsequently assumed senior leadership roles, including Acting Chief Executive Officer. During his tenure, the company strengthened compliance and governance frameworks, advanced digital transformation initiatives, and expanded its customer base to 1.28 crore policyholders, with strong growth in bancassurance, digital, and microinsurance segments.
Before joining Guardian, Sheikh Rakibul Karim served as Director of Audit and Advisory Services at KPMG Bangladesh, and held senior leadership roles at Grameenphone and Banglalink.
A Chartered Accountant and Fellow Member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Bangladesh (ICAB), he is recognised for his strategic leadership and focus on inclusive growth.
Guardian Life Insurance Limited said the appointment aims to further strengthen innovation, financial inclusion, and long-term value creation for customers and stakeholders across Bangladesh.
