Grameen Bank appoints Sardar Akhtar Hamid as Managing Director

Sardar Akhtar Hamid has been appointed as the new Managing Director of Grameen Bank. Prior to this appointment, he served as Chief Operating Officer at Sajeda Foundation.
After completing his Master's in Finance and Banking from Dhaka University, Akhtar Hamid began his career in 1995 at British American Tobacco. In 2005, he joined BRAC Bank Limited, and in 2015, he moved to Bank Asia as Senior Executive Vice President. He was promoted to Deputy Managing Director in 2021.
With extensive experience in managing MSME, retail, agriculture, and microfinance channel banking across various banks, Akhtar Hamid has been instrumental in expanding business operations. He has also led initiatives to develop strategic activities and promote the growth of micro-merchant concepts, bringing banking services to the doorsteps of the general public.
