Engineer Tahmidul Islam appointed as BWDB Director General

Bangladesh Water Development Board (BWDB) has appointed Engineer A.K.M. Tahmidul Islam as Director General. With over 32 years of distinguished service, he brings a wealth of experience and expertise to the role.
Prior to this appointment, Engineer Tahmidul Islam served as Additional Director General (Planning, Design, and Research) and Additional Director General (Western Region) at BWDB. His contributions to planning, design, and technology development have been instrumental in advancing the Board's objectives.
A highly accomplished academic, Engineer Tahmidul Islam earned a First-Class BSc in Civil Engineering from the Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) in 1989 and completed his Master's in Water Resources Engineering from BUET in 2004.
Since beginning his career in 1993 as an Assistant Engineer (Civil) at BWDB, he has held key positions, including Sub-Divisional Engineer, Executive Engineer, Superintending Engineer, Additional Chief Engineer, and Chief Engineer. He has also successfully led several major projects as a Project Director, contributing to innovative solutions within the water development sector.
Throughout his career, Engineer Tahmidul Islam has represented Bangladesh in numerous international seminars and training programs in Australia, Germany, England, Italy, China, Greece, and the United States, further enriching his professional expertise.
Born in 1966 in a distinguished Muslim family in Bogura, Engineer Tahmidul Islam is a lifelong member of the Institution of Engineers, Bangladesh (IEB), underlining his commitment to professional excellence.
