In a large-scale joint operation, the Bangladesh Water Development Board (WDB), assisted by the district administration, police, Bangladesh Army, and other authorities concerned, freed nearly 100 acres of occupied government land along the Mirpur Beribadh in Dhaka.

The joint drive, which began at 9:00am today (21 May) under the supervision of an executive magistrate, targeted unauthorised structures occupying government-acquired land designated for flood control infrastructure along the embankment, reads a press statement.

The eviction covered a stretch from chainage km 8.50 to 14.00 between Panchabati and Goranchatbari 8-vent regulator, it adds.
