3 acres of BWDB land in Mirpur embankment area recovered
During the drive, several illegal establishments were demolished

A mobile court operation led by the Dhaka District Administration has recovered three acres of land belonging to the Bangladesh Water Development Board (BWDB) in the Mirpur embankment area of the capital.
According to a Ministry of Water Resources press release, the land, designated for flood control infrastructure, had been illegally occupied by various structures.
The eviction drive was carried out yesterday morning (2 July) under the leadership of Executive Magistrate Md Rifatul Islam, in coordination with the BWDB. The operation also involved the police, Bangladesh Army, and other relevant agencies.
During the drive, several illegal establishments were demolished, including the Seba Greenline Filling Station, which was found operating on BWDB's flood control embankment. Numerous unauthorised shops and businesses set up along both sides of the dam were also removed, read the release.
The action freed approximately three acres of acquired BWDB land from illegal occupation.
Similar eviction drives would continue on a regular basis to safeguard government land and infrastructure from encroachment, it added.
Additionally, alongside the eviction drive, the work of clearing water hyacinth from the Goran-Chatbari ponding area in Mirpur is ongoing.
