Eastern University has announced that its Moot Court Society (EUMCS) team has qualified for the international rounds of the Monroe E Price Media Law Moot Court Competition 2025–26 for the first time.
The international rounds are scheduled to take place from 14 to 16 April 2026 at the Bonavero Institute of Human Rights, Faculty of Law, University of Oxford.
The EUMCS team—Md Sakib Khondoker, Jonayed Al Ratul, and Mehbuba Akter Maria—secured their qualification at the 16th South Asia Regional Rounds, held virtually from 6 to 8 February 2026. The regional rounds were hosted by National Law University (NLU) Delhi, in collaboration with the Centre for Communication Governance at NLU Delhi and the Bonavero Institute of Human Rights, University of Oxford.
Eastern University stated that this is the first time a team from Bangladesh has reached the semi-finals of the South Asia regional round. The university also noted it will be the sole representative from Bangladesh at the international rounds this year.
Established in 2008, the Monroe E Price Media Law Moot Court Competition focuses on legal issues related to freedom of expression and international law, examining the intersection of law, media, and technology. The competition is named after Prof Monroe E Price, founder of the Programme in Comparative Media Law and Policy (PCMLP) at the University of Oxford.
The Faculty of Law and EUMCS thanked coaches, faculty members, and peers for their support, and said the team is preparing to represent the university at the international rounds.
