DSCC, BRAC launch cleanliness and combing drive against dengue

Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) and BRAC Health Programme organised a special mosquito control and cleanliness campaign at Adarsh High School, Dhalpur, and nearby areas of Ward 49 under Zone 5 to prevent dengue.
Md Zahirul Islam, Chief Executive Officer of DSCC, led the campaign on Sunday. Students, DSCC Waste Management and Health Department officials, and local residents participated.
Speaking at the event, CEO Zahirul Islam said, "Preventive habits should start from childhood. Every student should spread awareness of cleanliness among their families and neighbours. Cleanliness must become a part of life, and students should be regularly involved in school-based cleanliness activities." He thanked the BRAC Health Programme for partnering in the dengue prevention initiative and added that similar combing drives would be conducted in every ward of DSCC.
Also present at the event were DSCC Secretary Muhammad Shafiqul Islam, Chief Health Officer Dr Nishat Parveen, Regional Executive Officer-05 Md Abu Aslam, and Senior Programme Manager of BRAC Health Programme Dr Noor-e-Nazneen Ferdous, along with other officials.
The campaign increased community awareness of dengue prevention, leading to more collective action, the elimination of more mosquito breeding sites, and improved cleanliness in homes and institutions.
