De Jure Academy’s seminar held at Dhaka Office

In a significant moment for legal education in Bangladesh, De Jure Academy had the honour of welcoming Mr Masdar Hossain, the eminent former judge and architect of one of the most transformative cases in the country's judicial history—the landmark "Masdar Hossain Case" (1999).
He attended as the keynote speaker at a seminar titled "From Vision to Verdict: The Path to an Independent Judiciary."
Held at the Academy's dedicated Masdar Hossain Theatre Room, the seminar explored the enduring challenges of judicial independence, the constitutional structure of governance, and the evolving realities of the legal system. In his address, Mr. Hossain stated:
"The encadrement order that tethered us under the executive has been declared ultra vires, void, and unconstitutional. Yet, the judiciary has not achieved full independence."
The event attracted an engaged audience of De Jure Academy students, legal professionals, and guests. Each seminar segment was intellectually rich and deeply inspiring, and served as a guiding light for the next generation of legal practitioners.
One student remarked, "The presence of Mr. Masdar Hossain reminds us that an independent judiciary is not just a demand—it is an ongoing struggle."
Mr Walid Rahman Swapnil, Executive Director of De Jure Academy, stated:
"Today marks a milestone in our Academy's journey. We are deeply honoured to have had the opportunity to learn directly from such a monumental figure in our judicial reform history."
Attendees expressed admiration for Mr. Hossain's clarity, wisdom, and vision. They echoed the belief that sessions like this are vital to shaping a generation of skilled, confident, and ethically grounded lawyers.
Mr Masdar Hossain's legacy as the petitioner in the eponymous 1999 case—officially known as the Secretary, Ministry of Finance vs. Masdar Hossain—inspires judges and legal professionals across Bangladesh. His case led to a seminal judgment that laid the foundation for separating the judiciary from the executive, thereby setting essential reforms that enhanced judicial independence in motion.
De Jure Academy, a Bangladesh-based institution for legal education, continues to set new standards in preparing students for the Bar Council, Judiciary, and other professional legal examinations. Through a dynamic blend of online and offline classes, video courses, mock viva sessions, and tailored test preparation, the Academy is shaping the future of legal education.
With its commitment to justice and reform, De Jure Academy reaffirms its dedication to hosting more intellectually rigorous and impactful events that advance the country's legal and judicial landscape.
