Daily Star holds 'A Better Tomorrow CSR Awards'
English daily The Daily Star on Friday awarded the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) activities of different organisations in the country in seven categories.
Prime Bank Eye Hospital, set up by Prime Bank Ltd, won the award in the Healthcare category, while the DBBL Scholarship Programme, run by Dutch-Bangla Bank Ltd, bagged the top award in Education.
The Environment Livelihood Program for Conservation, an initiative of BSRM Group of Companies, took home the accolade for the Best CSR in the Environment category.

The award for Best CSR in Financial Inclusion went to Banglalink Digital Communications Ltd, while Standard Chartered Bangladesh won the award in the Covid-19 Response category.
Nestlé Bangladesh Ltd won the Best CSR in Community Engagement category.
At the crest giving ceremony, Planning Minister MA Mannan said, "We have a common interest in the love for our motherland. We want a vibrant private sector with links to the government of Bangladesh.
"Government wants to cooperate with all the stakeholders of society. We are now working to improve the quality of life of common people...," he added.
Mannan thanked The Daily Star and other organisers of the event.
Mahfuz Anam, editor and publisher of The Daily Star, said CSR programmes had become more relevant now because of the pandemic.
He said it was a moment of great opportunity to reinvent and rejuvenate and corporates in Bangladesh were rising to the occasion.
"Ultimately, it is the human value that actually transforms the society," he said.
As a newspaper, Anam said, "The Daily Star is always with issues that are good for the society."
According to Star officials, for the very first time the newspaper had taken an initiative, jointly with the CSR Window of Bangladesh. Le Meridian Dhaka was the hospitality partner for the event.
Officials said in recent years, Bangladesh had experienced considerable growth in CSR projects. Numerous firms, both national and multinational, are working tirelessly to have a social impact through their projects.
The event was held to propagate further development of society and to recognise the impactful projects that can serve as benchmarks for the others, Star official added.
