Civil Aviation Academy awards certificates to 24 officers
On 18 May 2026, the Civil Aviation Academy awarded certificates to 24 officers who completed the Training Instructors Course developed by the International Civil Aviation Organisation, as part of efforts to upgrade Bangladesh's aviation training system to international standards.
The certificate distribution ceremony was held at the auditorium of the headquarters of the Bangladesh Civil Aviation Authority (BCAA).
The course aims to produce skilled, qualified aviation instructors who can contribute to the sustainable development of the country's aviation sector.
At the event, Civil Aviation Academy Director Prashant Kumar Chakraborty gave a presentation titled "Overview of Aviation Training", highlighting ICAO's Global Aviation Training, TRAINAIR PLUS Programme, Quality Assurance in Training and future training plans.
The 24 officers involved in BCAA's training programme successfully completed the ICAO-designed Training Instructors Course and formally received their certificates. The achievement is expected to support their development as international-standard instructors.
Air Vice Marshal Md Mostafa Mahmood Siddiq, BSP, GUP, ndc, afwc, acsc, psc, Chairman of the Air Force, attended the event as the chief guest.
Air Commodore Abu Sayeed Mehboob Khan, BSP, BUP, ndc, psc, Member of the Air Force (Operations and Planning), was present as the special guest.
Speaking at the event, the chief guest thanked the Civil Aviation Academy for its role in strengthening the aviation sector.
He said skilled and internationally trained aviation professionals were essential for implementing major projects, including the operation and expansion of the third terminal of Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport and the development of Cox's Bazar Airport.
He said the Civil Aviation Academy was playing a leading role in developing skilled human resources and working as a centre of excellence.
He also said the academy was developing two international-standard training courses titled "Rules of the Air" and "Aerodrome Operations for ATCOs", which would further improve the skills of aviation professionals and create opportunities to conduct globally recognised training programmes.
Special guest Air Commodore Abu Sayeed Mehboob Khan said training plans had been adopted according to operational needs based on Training Need Assessment in key areas such as Air Traffic Management, Aviation Security, Aerodrome Operations, and Rescue and Fire Fighting.
He said next-generation training, combining simulation, field practice and performance assessment, would significantly improve safety and efficiency.
Civil Aviation Academy Director Prashant Kumar Chakraborty said the 24 officers were now capable of conducting competency-based training as international-standard trainers.
"Based on Job Task Analysis and Training Need Assessment, we will establish Civil Aviation Academy as a regional centre of excellence through Competency-Based Training Assessment, Learning Management System, simulation and digital content," he said.
Members of BCAA, directors, deputy directors, assistant directors, officials at different levels and journalists were also present at the event.
