City Bank elects new deputy managing director

City Bank announces the recent appointment of Md Ashanur Rahman as the bank's Deputy Managing Director (DMD). Ashanur previously held the roles of chief economist, country business manager, and senior executive vice president at the same bank.
With over 20 years of banking experience, Ashanur began his career at Mercantile Bank as a Management Trainee Officer in 2004. He joined City Bank in 2008 during a key transformation phase. He played a vital role in overhauling the credit, legal, and recovery functions and established the bank's Risk Management Division.
After five years at the Royal Bank of Canada, Ashanur returned to City Bank in 2019 as the Chief Economist and Country Business Manager. Since then, he has led numerous strategic initiatives, including launching Bancassurance.
He is an active member of the bank's Write-Off Loan Recovery Committee, Settlement Committee, KPI Driving Committee, and Rewards and Recognition Committee, among other committees.
Ashanur did his graduation from Jahangirnagar University and BIBM. He had also studied in Canada on Investment Funds.
With this promotion, Ashanur is set to continue shaping City Bank's future growth and strategic direction.
