Cashless Bangladesh roadshow held in Faridpur

A day-long colourful roadshow, seminar and stall exhibition were held in Faridpur on Sunday (12 October 2025) to mark the "Cashless Bangladesh Initiative Expansion Campaign", organised by Bangladesh Bank in collaboration with Islami Bank Bangladesh PLC.
The vibrant rally began in the morning from the main gate of Government Rajendra College and concluded at the Bangladesh Shishu Academy.
Following the rally, a seminar was held at the Shishu Academy where Arif Hossain Khan, Executive Director and Spokesperson of Bangladesh Bank, attended as the chief guest. The session was presided over by Rafeza Akter Kanta, Director of the Payment Systems Department, while Engr Mohammad Jamal Uddin Mazumder, Additional Managing Director of Islami Bank Bangladesh PLC, joined as special guest.
Md Parwez Anjam Munir, Additional Director of the Payment Systems Department, presented a video message from the Governor of Bangladesh Bank along with a detailed presentation on the Cashless Bangladesh initiative.
Among the other distinguished speakers were Prof Dr Dilruba Zeba, Principal of Faridpur Medical College, and Md Tanmoy Islam, Assistant Commissioner and Executive Magistrate. Entrepreneurs and small business owners, including Md Jahangir Hossain, Executive Officer of Shotonir, Turjo, owner of Campus Café, and Shahidul Islam Mansur, shared their experiences of digital transactions.
The seminar was attended by officials from Bangladesh Bank, other commercial banks, local merchants, teachers, students and representatives from various professions.
After the seminar, the guests visited 20 stalls set up by 17 Bangla QR-affiliated banks on the Government Rajendra College campus.
In his address, Arif Hossain Khan emphasised, "If all transactions can be made digitally, our need for cash will decrease, and life will become easier." He urged all stakeholders to help spread awareness about building a cashless Bangladesh for a more efficient and inclusive economy.
