BUFT national career fest connects academia and industry
BGMEA University of Fashion & Technology, through its Career Development Club, organised the BUFT National Career Fest 2026 on 14–15 January at its permanent campus.
The two-day event was presented by BGMEA, KDS, and Prime Bank, and powered by Centro, Fashion Step Group, Fakir Fashion, Shin Shin Group, FPG, and Masco Group. Auko-Tex Group, RH Corporation, and Asian Apparels Limited joined as co-powered partners.
The career fest aimed to bridge the gap between academia and industry by creating a direct platform for interaction between employers and jobseekers. More than 300 organisations participated in the event, which attracted over 10,000 jobseekers and around 40,000 visitors. Participants had the opportunity to engage in direct recruitment, attend on-the-spot interviews, and take part in workshops, seminars, and panel discussions focused on career development and industry readiness.
The event was attended by Dr Naznin Kawshar Chowdhury, Executive Chairman of the National Skills Development Authority; Faruque Hassan, Chairman of the BUFT Board of Trustees; Mohammad Hatem, President of the Bangladesh Knitwear Manufacturers and Exporters Association; Inamul Haq Khan, Senior Vice-President of BGMEA; Nafis Ud Doula, Director of BGMEA; Mohammad Shohel, Director of BGMEA; Mohiuddin Ahmed Selim, Chairman of the Institute of Textile Engineering and Technology; Shibbir Mahmud, Chairman of Swisstex Limited; Ehsanul Karim Kaiser, Convener of the Interim Committee of the Institute of Textile Engineering and Technology; and M M Mahbub Hasan, Senior Vice-President of Prime Bank PLC.
The welcome address was delivered by Prof Dr Engr Ayub Nabi Khan, Adviser to BUFT. Prof Dr Md Alamgir Hossain, Acting Vice-Chancellor of BUFT; Md Abdul Mukit, Adviser of the Career Development Club; Abid Hossain, President of the club; and Mahmud Fantasir, General Secretary of the club, also spoke at the programme.
In their speeches, the guests emphasised the importance of English language proficiency, leadership skills, and adaptability in the increasingly competitive global job market. They noted that academic qualifications alone are insufficient for long-term success, and stressed the need for strong communication skills to assume leadership roles in professional life.
The event received strong media support, with Channel 24, The Business Standard, Daily Kaler Kantha, Radio Today, The Daily Campus, Textile Focus, and Textile Today serving as media partners.
