BSTI launches e-service system for certification and licensing
The Bangladesh Standards and Testing Institution (BSTI) has launched a comprehensive e-service system to digitise and streamline its certification and licensing services.
Md Nuruzzaman NDC, Secretary (Additional Charge) of the Ministry of Industries, attended the event as chief guest and formally inaugurated the software. The programme was chaired by SM Ferdous Alam, Director General (Grade-1) of BSTI.
Also present were Fuad M Khalid Hossain, Deputy Chief of the Bangladesh Trade Facilitation (BTF) project; Ashraful Kabir, Managing Director of Orange Business Development Ltd; and senior officials from the Ministry of Industries and BSTI.
Funded by the US Department of Agriculture (USDA) through the BTF project and implemented with technical assistance from Orange Business Development Ltd, the new system enables service recipients to apply for and obtain various BSTI certifications online — including product quality certificates (CM licences), clearances, Halal certificates, management system certifications, metrology licences, packaging approvals, test reports, and Bangladesh Standards (BDS).
Through this e-service platform, clients can complete the entire process digitally — from application submission and online payment to inspection notices, fee payments, test tracking, and licence issuance. BSTI officials, in turn, can verify applications, manage inspection and sampling notifications, issue test reports, and process licences efficiently through the same platform.
Officials said the system will enhance transparency, reduce service delivery time, and promote digital governance across Bangladesh's standards and certification ecosystem.
