BRAC, Mirai partner for Japanese language, employment support
BRAC has signed a memorandum of understanding with Mirai Consulting Group to expand business, education, and employment opportunities between Bangladesh and Japan, reinforcing bilateral collaboration and skills development.
The partnership aims to strengthen Japanese language and cultural education in Bangladesh, create employment opportunities in Japan for both white- and blue-collar workers, and enhance business collaboration between the two countries.
The agreement was signed at a ceremony at BRAC Centre, Mohakhali, Dhaka, on 26 April.
Asif Saleh, executive director, BRAC, and Kenichi Kanai, managing director, Mirai Consulting Bangladesh, signed the agreement on behalf of their respective organisations.
Attendees included Md Shakirul Islam, special assistant to the prime minister (overseas employment, Asia-Pacific); Md Shahidul Islam Chowdhury, joint secretary, Ministry of Foreign Affairs; Tomotaka Minora, representative, Japan External Trade Organisation; and Safi Rahman Khan, director, education, skills development and migration programmes, BRAC.
Other attendees included Brigadier General (retd) Md Golam Faruque, chief operating officer, BRAC Probashbandhu Ltd; Shariful Islam Hasan, associate director, BRAC Migration Programme and Youth Platform; Fatemee Iman, chief executive officer and shareholder, OPearl; Numeri Sattar Apar, shareholder, OPearl; Md Nazmus Sakib, chief operating officer, ACS; Md Shakil Ahmed, manager, Mirai Consulting Bangladesh; and Fabiha Mukarrama, director, Ma-Navi Ltd.
Japan is currently experiencing significant demand for skilled and semi-skilled workers. Through the partnership, Bangladeshi job seekers are expected to gain improved access to employment opportunities in Japan via language training, cultural orientation, and professional support.
Proficiency in Japanese remains a key requirement for employment in Japan, and the MoU aims to ensure access to quality language education for Bangladeshi youth.
Mirai Consulting Group began operations in Bangladesh in 2024 and has since worked to strengthen business links between the two countries.
The organisation has a network of over 10,000 Japanese clients and offices in more than 30 prefectures across Japan.
As part of its expansion strategy, Mirai Consulting Group will establish a new company in Japan, OPearl, in May 2026, in partnership with Numeri Sattar Apar and Fatemee Iman.
BRAC Probashbandhu Ltd will play a key role in OPearl's business development activities in Bangladesh, overseen by Brigadier General (retd) Md Golam Faruque, chief operating officer, BRAC Probashbandhu Ltd.
BRAC Probashbandhu Ltd and OPearl also plan to jointly establish a human resources company in Japan, creating a structured employment platform for Bangladeshi workers.
Guests expressed hope that the MoU will further strengthen relations between Bangladesh and Japan and generate sustainable economic and employment opportunities for both countries.
