DIU to host IAUP conference in November
Dr Sabur Khan, founder and chairman of Daffodil International University (DIU), elevated Bangladesh's profile in global academia as a distinguished speaker at the International Association of University Presidents (IAUP) Semi-Annual Conference 2026 in Vilnius, Lithuania, from 29 April to 1 May.
During the conference, Dr Khan met Dr Regina Valutytė, Vice Minister of Education, Science and Sport of Lithuania. Dr Valutytė previously visited DIU in 2019 as Vice-Rector of Mykolas Romeris University. Their ongoing engagement underscores a deepening academic partnership.
Dr Khan delivered a keynote presentation, "Leading with Integrity: Ethical and Inclusive Leadership in a Global Context", emphasising ethical governance, inclusive leadership, innovation and future-ready education in the evolving higher education landscape.
He also showcased the DIU model, highlighting sustainable infrastructure, entrepreneurship development, student-centred policies and international collaboration.
As treasurer-elect of IAUP, Dr Khan reaffirmed his commitment to strengthening global academic partnerships and positioning Bangladesh as a key hub for international higher education dialogue.
"Global collaboration in higher education is essential for building resilient institutions and preparing future generations to meet tomorrow's challenges. Daffodil International University remains committed to this global transformation," Dr Khan said.
The IAUP conference, hosted by Mykolas Romeris University, convened academic leaders from around the world under the theme "Resilient Minds, Innovative Pathways: Universities Leading Global Transformation" to discuss ethics, innovation, sustainability and the future of higher education.
A key highlight was the announcement that Daffodil International University will host the next IAUP Semi-Annual Conference from 19 to 21 November 2026—the first time in IAUP's history that the event will be held in South Asia.
This milestone positions Bangladesh as an emerging centre for international academic collaboration and further elevates Daffodil International University's global standing in higher education.
