BRAC Bank launches nationwide campaign to raise remittance awareness

BRAC Bank recently brought its remittance beneficiaries together across Sunamganj, Brahmanbaria, Narsingdi, Chandpur, Sylhet, and Cumilla through a series of customer engagement programmes.
The sessions, part of the bank's ongoing efforts to promote its Probashi Banking services, aimed to educate beneficiaries on the effective use of remittance funds sent by expatriate family members and highlight the advantages of using formal and legal remittance channels.
Interactive gatherings, including courtyard Uthan Boithok sessions and branch-level events, brought together existing and potential remittance recipients and senders. Participants learned about the features of BRAC Bank's 'Probashi Poribar' and 'TARA Probashi Poribar' accounts, the benefits of legal remittance transfers, and the risks of informal channels such as hundi. Guidance was also provided on maximising foreign currency income.
Hundreds of participants opened new accounts during the campaign, showing keen interest in BRAC Bank's digital solutions, including the Astha app, SME Shabolombi Loan, and other remittance-focused services.
"Our priority is to accelerate remittance inflow in the country by providing remittance beneficiaries with the best banking services," said Md Shaheen Iqbal CFA, Deputy Managing Director and Head of Treasury and Financial Institutions. "We have tailored our services to not only increase remittance inflow but also encourage customers to use banking channels instead of illegal ones."
BRAC Bank stated that these initiatives underscore its commitment to financial inclusion and its role in fostering a more secure and sustainable remittance ecosystem in Bangladesh.
