BKB union organises programme to recall Ziaur Rahman’s legacy
A discussion meeting and doa mahfil were held at the auditorium of Bangladesh Krishi Bank's head office on 10 June 2026, marking the 45th death anniversary of former president Ziaur Rahman, Bir Uttam.
The programme was organised by Bangladesh Krishi Bank Employees' Union (CBA).
Md Shahiduddin Chowdhury Anee MP, Minister for Water Resources and Joint Secretary General of Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), attended the programme as the chief guest.
In his speech, the chief guest said Bangladesh Krishi Bank plays a vital role in the agricultural economy.
Prioritising the government's canal-digging programme, he highlighted various aspects of the life of Ziaur Rahman and called upon everyone, regardless of political affiliation, to work together to build Bangladesh as a people-friendly, self-reliant and prosperous country.
Special guest Md Shahidul Islam Babul MP, General Secretary of Jatiyatabadi Krishak Dal, highlighted various aspects of the green revolution, particularly the canal-digging programme, which he described as a product of the visionary thinking of Ziaur Rahman's three-and-a-half-year political life.
Md Anwar Hossain, President of Jatiyatabadi Shromik Dal; Mohammed Nurul Amin, Chairman of the bank's Board of Directors; Anwar Faruque, Director of the Board of Directors; and Sanchia Binte Ali, Managing Director of the bank, also spoke at the event.
Foyez Uddin Ahmed, President of Bangladesh Krishi Bank Employees' Union (CBA), presided over the programme, while General Secretary Md Miraz Hossain conducted it.
The event was also attended by Deputy Managing Directors Md Abdur Rahim and Mohd Khaleduzzaman, all general managers, deputy general managers, Deputy General Manager of HRMD Md Zahid Hossen, Convenor of the Central Committee of Bangladesh Krishi Bank Officers' Welfare Association Syed Liaquat Hussain, General Secretary of the Officers' Welfare Association Md Noor-E-Alam Shaon, and officers and employees of different levels of the bank.
