Bkash enables ramadan zakat, donations to 50+ organisations
During Ramadan, many people increase charitable giving, including sadaqah and zakat. However, donors often find it challenging to ensure that funds reach the intended recipients due to constraints related to time, distance, and trust.
bKash stated that its platform enables users to send zakat and donations to more than 50 charitable and volunteer-based organisations across Bangladesh, helping funds reach people in need.
The company stated that users can donate year-round to institutions such as As-Sunnah Foundation, Mastul Foundation, Bangladesh Thalassemia Foundation, Anjuman Mufidul Islam, Mojar School, Obhizatrik Foundation, JAAGO Foundation, Dhaka Ahsania Mission, Centre for Zakat Management, Bangladesh Red Crescent Society, Quantum Foundation, icddr,b, Unicef, World Food Programme (WFP), National Liver Foundation of Bangladesh, DoNation Foundation Trust, and Prothom Alo Trust, among others. bKash added that customers can also contribute through merchant accounts of various social and voluntary organisations.
To donate through the bKash app, users must tap the Donation icon, select an organisation from the list, and enter their name, email address, and the donation amount. Donors who wish to remain anonymous can opt to hide their identity. The donation is completed using the bKash PIN, after which users receive an acknowledgement note, the company stated.
bKash added that users can learn more about each organisation through the 'Know more' option in the app. Donors may also contact the relevant organisation using the email address included in the acknowledgement note to learn how funds are being utilised.
