BES hosts scientific programme on advances in diabetes care
The Bangladesh Endocrine Society (BES) organised a day-long scientific programme in Dhaka on Friday on contemporary developments in diabetes care, bringing together leading endocrinology and diabetes specialists.
Titled "Highlights from ADA 2026", the programme was held at the Grand Ballroom of Pan Pacific Sonargaon Dhaka and featured five scientific sessions, according to a press release issued for the event.
The sessions covered prediabetes and diabetes-risk prediction, insulin resistance, diabetes technology, diabetes in pregnancy, nutrition, weight management, hypertriglyceridaemia and emerging obesity therapies.

They also addressed diabetic neuropathy, diabetic kidney disease and metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD).
The final session explored diabetes management across the cancer continuum and Type 5 diabetes in South Asia.
Endocrinologists from Bangladesh and abroad presented recent evidence and guideline-based perspectives on these topics.
Speakers included Dr Scott D Isaacs, Adjunct Instructor at Emory University School of Medicine in Atlanta, Georgia, and Immediate Past President of AACE (2025); Dr Faria Afsana, President of BES; Dr Shahjada Selim, President-Elect of BES; and Dr M Saifuddin, General Secretary of BES.
Other endocrinology and diabetes specialists also delivered scientific presentations at the programme.
